A 10-point check for your Instagram or Facebook profile

Ten checks a small business can do in one evening, in the order that matters, with what to fix first.

Six in ten small firms in the EU (10 to 49 employees) used social media in 2025, according to Eurostat. These ten checks take about an evening. Do them in this order.

Name and bio (checks 1-3)

1. The name says what you sell. "Ola's" tells a stranger nothing; "Ola's Bakery, Kraków" does. Use the name field for the business type and place, not a slogan.

2. The bio answers three questions. Who it is for, what you offer, where you are. One line each. Leave the history for a post.

3. One clear next step. Book, order, visit, call. One. If the bio asks for four things, people do none of them.

4. The link works on a phone. Open it on your own phone with mobile data, not office wifi. If it lands on a page that needs zooming, fix the page or link somewhere else.

5. Hours or booking info are visible. Either in the bio, in a pinned post or in a highlight. "Are you open on Sunday?" in the comments means this check failed.

6. The contact button goes somewhere live. Tap Call, Email and Directions yourself. An old phone number or a closed mailbox loses the customer who was ready.

The grid (checks 7-8)

7. Pin three posts that explain you. One with what you offer, one with your place or team, one with proof (a review you have permission to share, a finished job).

8. Something from this month. A profile whose last post is from March reads as closed. One post a week is enough to look open.

Replies (checks 9-10)

9. Reply to comments the same day, in public. Others read the answer too.

10. Move private details to DM, keep the answer public. Prices for a specific order, addresses, complaints with order numbers: say "sent you a message" in public, then do it.
